Air Separation Plant Case Study
Cooling Tower Diagnostic Performance Audit™ Saves Plant $20,000 per Month
One characteristic of air separation plants is their extremely high process power costs. Efficient cooling tower operation can have a very significant impact in reducing energy costs. While plant operations suspected that their cooling tower was under-performing, they were unable to identify any obvious causes.
A Diagnostic Performance Audit™ was carried out on the cooling tower and exposed specific airflow and water distribution problems in each of the tower cells. Armed with this information, plant maintenance were able to target and prioritize the repair work to restore cooling tower performance. The plant was able to realize energy savings exceeding $20,000 per month as a result of the improved thermal performance of the cooling tower.
